I think I was about to give up, not out of a sense of surrender, but out of sheer physical exhaustion, when we heard another car pull up outside.

Mei got an annoyed expression on her face, and looked outside the doors to the warehouse.

"Son of a bitch," she said, coming back my way.

"We'll have to finish this elsewhere," she said.

I heard car doors slam outside, and voices coming towards us. One of them was Gary's. He was here! Gary was here!

Mei began to drag me along the ground.

I just started screaming at the top of my lungs.

Please Gary. Please hear me, I thought.

"Kayla?" came his voice. "Kayla!"

Gary burst into the room and locked eyes with Mei.

Mei dropped me and then ran.

Gary began to give chase, but then I blubbered through my gag for his help.

Gary looked after Mei as she fled through the far exit of the warehouse.

"Better help your precious trophy wife, Gary. I don't think she'll last much longer in that."

Then she was gone. Master didn't even watch her leave. He just swore under his breath as he scrambled to untie the rope that threatened to choke the life from me.

Moments later, he got the ropes off my neck, and then Master was holding me in his arms.

"Kayla? Kayla, speak to me, doll. Are you okay?"

Master was crying. I don't think I've ever seen Master cry before.

"I'm all right Master," I said weakly. "Now that you're here."

He held me tightly in his arms, and cried.

"I'm sorry," he said. "I'm so sorry."

"It's all right, Master," I said.

"Thank god you're okay."

He held me for awhile.

"How did you manage to find me?" I asked finally.

"It wasn't easy," he said. "Luckily, Chet had the good sense to get make and model of the car right before it took you. As soon as he could, he got the license plate from Roly's surveillance cam in the parking garage, and then texted it to me, saying Mei took you. From there, I got a friend to track down the location of the car on CCTV, and then I came as quickly as I could."

"My hero," I said, biting my lip. Though I was still in shackles, already, I felt completely safe. I was still shaken, and my neck and ankles felt swollen. They would be bruised tomorrow, but I would be all right.

"Don't get me wrong, doll. I wanted to get you back for purely selfish reasons."

"Well whatever your reasons, thank you. Thank you."

He held me tightly. "Of course, doll. I'll do anything to keep you safe. You know that, right? Anything."

"I know," I said.

"If I had any idea Mei would do anything like this…"

"I know, Master. I know. It's all right. I don't blame you for this."

"I still don't understand why she's go obsessed with me, and why she has to take it out on you."

I think I understand, I thought. After all, I'd been feeling a bit of them same thing about Yvette. Though certainly not to this extent.

"Is Chet all right?" I asked.
